RIDE TO COOLENDEL LOOKOUT WITH SBUG ON SUNDAY

Next Sunday, 19th October, Shoalhaven Bicycle User Group (SBUG) will be riding from Nowra to Coolendel Lookout and return, a distance of 39kms. The ride will be at a moderate pace on sealed and unsealed roads with some traffic. There are some significant hills along the way and mountain bikes are required. The ride starts at 9:00am from the Nowra Visitor Centre, Pleasant Way, Nowra. This ride provides spectacular views of the Shoalhaven River and Coolendel camping ground, from the lookout. For a shorter ride of 15km, and to avoid some long climbs, there will be a second starting point at the intersection of Bugong Road and Emerys Road at 9:45am. Bring water and snacks. Contact Jim (02) 4423 2943 or Judi (02) 4421 5214.

Last Sunday a handful of riders had a great morning of riding and whale watching in the Booderee National Park. The group rode along Jervis Bay Road, Wreck Bay Road and Stony Creek Road to the ruined lighthouse where they watched a number of whales on their migration south. The riders spotted more whales from the cliff tops on the way to Governor Head and Murray’s Beach. Jervis Bay looked beautiful under a cloudless sky.

As this version of SBUG Weekly Cycling News goes to press over 20 members and friends are enjoying riding the wonderful Murray to Mountains rails trails. During the week, cyclists will enjoy rides from Myrtleford to Bright, Beechworth, Everton and Wangarratta. Some of the more adventuresome riders will tackle the challenging Mount Buffalo ride. Towns of the Victorian Alpine Region boast some of the best views, wineries, cafe and restaurants in eastern Australia.

This Wednesday is NATIONAL RIDE TO WORK DAY. So join the fun, get out your bike and ride to work on Wednesday 15 October. Even better, find a work colleague, and ride to work together!
