UPDATE 8 August 2015
Would those going to Moruya next weekend please return email me if you are attending the Balcony On Shore restaurant with us on Saturday evening.
I have to call the restaurant with numbers.
More details in original email – below.
SBUG has organised a weekend of riding and social activities in conjunction with Eurobodalla BUG from Saturday 15th August until Monday 17th August 2015.
Saturday 15th August – Travel to Moruya.
NB. For those that would like an early start the popular Moruya riverside Markets takes place Saturday mornings and an unofficial ride to Moruya Heads could happen Saturday afternoon.
Saturday evening – dinner at Balcony on Shore restaurant, Moruya.
Sunday – SBUG ride along north bank of Moruya river to coffee at Mossy Point. Afternoon free.
Sunday evening – BBQ at indoor kitchen/recreation room at Riverbreeze Tourist Park.
Monday – combine with EBUG for very scenic ride in Bodalla area. Lunch at Dairy Shed, Bodalla. Later afternoon travel home or stay another night.
Eight Villas of various types have been reserved at the Riverbreeze Tourist Park, Moruya. This is a very neat, modern and clean park with great facilities. Proudly, privately owned. Riverside villas and within walking distance of town.
If six villas are booked for minimum of two nights each by end June then we will all receive 10% or $30 max. discount when paying. (UPDATE – Nine Villas reserved at end June, discount achieved.) Book individually by contacting 1800467730 or 0244742370, www.riverbreeze.com.au or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Cabin layouts and bedding arrangements are on the website. The reserved cabins are numbers 54, 117-119, 106, 107, 91, 92 and are at least 4 berth and either $120 or $85 per night for two people and $25/night per extra adult. All linen and towels included.
Saturday evening dinner is at “Balcony on Shore”. This is a newly opened near fine-dining, licensed restaurant privately owned and situated about the Adelaide Hotel in Moruya. Walking distance from tourist park. Views over river.
They are very keen to please and have offered special prices of $30 for 2 course or $35 for 3 course meal. This is a significant saving over menu prices which average around $27 for main course alone. Go on – treat yourself and ride-off the calories next day!
Actual numbers will be required a week or so before.
Sunday evening BBQ. Excellent heated indoor facilities at the Riverbreeze will be venue for get-together and party. Bring your own everything.
Since the EBUG is an off-road/mountain bike club you will get the most out of the two rides with a suspension mountain bike, however some hybrids and flat-bars would be okay on all but the roughest bush tracks where you may have to dismount for a short distance.
Unofficial Saturday afternoon ride: For early arrivals, a ride is proposed to Moruya Heads with possible bush and beach detours – or do your own thing.
Sunday morning SBUG ride: Ride along north side of Moruya River on George Bass Drive towards airport then left into side roads and through bush. Back on George Bass Drive for 400m then onto gravel road which leads to track behind beach for 4.8km. A short tour around Broulee then back road to Mossy Point and the Muffin Shop Cafe for coffee. Similar route for return but alternatives possible. Total Approx. 35 km.
Monday ride with EBUG: Starts at the Fire Station car park at Bodalla on the Princes Highway at 9.00 am. The (36 km) route includes: Eurobodalla Rd, Cheese Factory Rd, Cobra Rd, Eurobodalla Rd back to Bodalla with a detour down Comerang Farm Rd to enjoy the great view of the lower Tuross Valley. This is a moderate to easy ride. The climb up to Cobra Mtn. on Cheese Factory Rd is very scenic and has a fairly gentle grade although the surface is rough in parts. Depending on numbers there will be two or three different paced groups for the full ride.
The full route can be found at: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1813574
For an easier option, about 22km there will be an alternative self guided shorter route out and back along Eurobodalla Rd. This will exclude Cheese Factory Rd.
The all important lunch will be at the Dairy Shed at Bodalla.at the end of the ride.
For both the above rides go to ridewithgps.com and search for Eurobodalla District Moruya to Tomakin (Sun. ride) and Bodalla to Cheese Factory Road Loop (Mon. ride). The Monday EBUG ride can also be found on the clubs website at eurobodallabug.blogspot.com
Safe riding with a smile.
PS. Mild, calm and sunny weather forecast for all three days.
